Work
Pat Barrett – Build My Life

God promises to give us fulfillment in our work and to establish the work of our hands in His strength and through His wisdom. Without God, work is purposeless, self promoting and dull. He is our steps, our direction and path. There is a purpose to which we have all been called and it takes the power of the Holy Spirit to reveal.

So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?
Ecclesiastes 3:22

May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.
Psalm 90:17

48 DAYS TO THE WORK YOU LOVE
What do you love to do, what are your passions, talents, and abilities? What is in your heart that brings you joy? These are the vital questions which Dan Miller asks his readers in his book 48 Days To The Work You Love. Discovering the answers to these important questions unveils the “call” that God has placed on your life which leads to income, careers and jobs. He points out that our call never changes throughout our life, but the careers and jobs birthed from that call does. Once people discover this call, then the possibilities are endless. He also says, “Do what you love and the money will follow, but when you work for money, then burnout, anxiety, depression, and money frustrations follow.”
Dan’s call in his life is to help people find the work they love. It is his mission.
I discovered my “call” through reading this book, answering the questions and digging deeper through prayer and God’s wisdom, the path and purpose He ordained for me. It is a path of discovering you and who God made you to be and the work He has called you to accomplish. It is powerful and so healing.
This is a question I like to ask people. Are you a Pharaoh, Joseph, or a pheasant? In the Bible, Pharaoh was the King. No one was above him, he called the shots, made his own decisions and was over the people. Joseph was second in command. He was a leader with great responsibility and managed the people, but still had to answer to one above. Pheasants are the worker bees, whose desire is to work. They do not want to lead, but only answer to the Pharaohs and Josephs.
Our society needs all three; no position being more important than the other. Knowing inherently who you are by nature, helps to uncover the call on your life. I am a Pharaoh by nature. I have been in Joseph and pheasant positions before, but I do best being a Pharaoh; it is intertwined in my call. My life’s call is to bring healing.
So which one are you? I highly recommend Dan’s book. It will bring healing to your work!

Discovering who we are helps us discover what to do.
Our hearts are the key to the calling and each talent, passion, and dream is a voice. Listen to these voices and the call will be made known. For it is who God made us to be…unique!

HEALING TO THE PRISONS
The prisons are full of men and women who don’t know who God intended for them to be. Men and women who are dying within and need Jesus. Through this book, Jesus sets their paths in motion to discover their passions, talents and abilities. It is so powerful, because they then can walk out of those cells knowing their own individual call, the purpose, the work which they were created to perform. For God’s glory. My fervent prayer is that every prison, every high school, every college and every family would read this book and discover the joy of God’s finger print on you. Such healing it would bring to know that your talents, abilities and passions were uniquely given to you by God for a very special purpose; a purpose which brings - income, joy, peace, confidence, and Jesus to the world.

Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work – this is a gift of God.
