Wisdom
FOOLS REJECT WISDOM
How much are we willing to lose before we will seek wisdom? And seek it like a hidden treasure. How long do we want to play the fool, despising wisdom and discipline before our hearts become meek and teachable; the wisdom to see, hear and learn?
What has to die, before we will cry out, “Teacher teach me! Give me wisdom for I need you Jesus.”
For me, I played the fool way too many times in my life and many things had to die before my heart submitted to the Teacher and His wisdom.
DEATH OF A CHILD
When we were in hospital for 3 ½ months, fighting for our son’s life, battling doctors and drugs, not once did I ever cry out for God’s wisdom for my son’s healing? Nor did I even ask, “How did we get into this pit and how do we get out? We need your wisdom God!” No, I only prayed for a miracle and took matters into my own hands. Precious people prayed for us for months. I remember walking the halls of that hospital wondering what was it going to take to get us out of that pit of hell? Well, if I didn’t want God’s wisdom, then it was going to be death, because that is what I chose. I was so far away from God, with a heart of stone and full of rebellion. Wisdom was the farthest thing from my mind.
Jesus said in Matthew 13, “If they would have ears to hear and eyes to see, I would turn and heal them.”
If I would have had ears to hear and eyes to see God’s wisdom, it would have brought revelation that I needed to repent of some serious sin. The sin of turning my back on God, witchcraft, sexual immorality, and my desire before marriage to abort my baby if ever I got pregnant. My heart was all about death and destruction, and look what I got…death and destruction.
In the hospital, all I wanted was a miracle to end the nightmare, not His wisdom. I wanted pain relief!
His wisdom would have brought understanding that I had chosen the path of death, for I had chosen sin and rebellion.
Proverbs 8 says, that all who hate wisdom, love death.
Everything must be measured by the Word of God. And His Word measured me and found me wanting.
For I was a fool who wanted foolishness, not wisdom.
DEATH OF A SOUL
The Old Testament states if we do not repent of our ways, He will give us over to the hands of our enemies. I rejected God, turned away, chose sin, left His covering and, as He promised, He gave me over to the hand of my enemies. I did not want His loving hand, so He gave me theirs!
Deuteronomy 28:15-68
Jesus took our curses to the cross, and we are forgiven of them when we repent, but if we, who know the truth, willingly walk away from the truth and choose sin, then we are held more accountable with harsher punishment than those who did not know the truth and sinned.
If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
2 Peter‬ 2:20-21
Let's say two siblings ate freshly baked cookies from the cookie jar. One was told, “Do not eat any cookies before dinner.” And the other sibling was outside playing when the mother gave the command.
Even though they both ate the cookies, who would get disciplined?
The one who knew the truth.
Listen people, when we fall away, turn our backs on God, reject Christ and choose sin, we have chosen to remove ourselves from the umbrella of God’s protection; God’s grace, which was paid for with Jesus’ blood.
We have a God who will do whatever it takes to save our sorry souls from going to eternal separation from Him. Even if it means allowing death.
‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
Hebrews‬ 10:26-29
Jesus says, “Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.
I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways.
I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.”
‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬Revelation‬ 2:20-23‬ ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
Sadly, my son died, and I was beyond broken; on my face with gut wrenching grief. By the grace of God, I finally repented of all my sins and His wisdom flooded into my heart. Proverbs says that a beating is for the back of fools.
My back had to be beaten so that I would turn from my sin and learn wisdom. I was stubborn and foolish.
The Word says wisdom is YELLING out in the streets, and we are fools if we do not listen. I was that fool.
Wisdom has sent out her maids, and she calls from the highest point of the city. “Let all who are simple come in here,” she says to those who lack judgment.
Proverbs 9:3-4
DEATH OF FORTUNE
When my husband and I were newly married, we came into a lot of money through my husband's job. He retired at the ripe old age of 35, and I sold my business to open a home clinic. With all of this money suddenly upon us, not once did we ever ask or seek the LORD for His wisdom on how to manage it all. We used our own “wisdom” and the poor “wisdom” of others. We even failed to listen to the sound wisdom of financially discerning individuals. Stupid is as stupid does. And of course, we lost more than we spent! It all flew on the wings of eagles - stock market losses, unrestrained spending, bad businesses with friends, stupid investments, and thieves. We lost wealth, material possessions, the home we built together, our pride (thank goodness), dignity, friends, and nearly our marriage. OUR hand was on the money, not God’s hand. With all that cash in the bank, we were filled with fear on one end and greed on the other. They were our master. Fear and greed – two friends that are hell-bent on destroying fortunes. And God’s wisdom was nowhere to be found.
Of what use is money in the hands of a fool, since he has no desire to get wisdom!
Proverbs 17:16
Interestingly, this loss occurred after returning to Christ. Accepting or returning to Jesus most definitely saves our souls, but we must not be fooled into thinking we don’t need God’s wisdom afterwards. We desperately NEED His wisdom at all times!
Just because my soul was saved didn’t mean I was now wise. Wisdom comes from our back being beaten, our heart judged before God, His gentle two-by-four to our head, and His loving rebuke and discipline. I am sure God was up there saying, “Much wisdom this wee one needs to learn!”
Looking back, I am very thankful for the wisdom God has taught my husband and I through all this pain and loss. To pass wisdom down to our children rather than our foolishness is a precious gift. It is a blessing to tell others of our stupidity and how Jesus – The Teacher continues to teach us His wisdom regarding money, wealth, and life. And to see His mighty hand bring healing and restoration to our finances is a miracle. With wisdom in our hearts, He continues to restore what was lost….amazing healing.
Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.
Proverbs 4:14
I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.
Proverbs 8:17-18
A DYING MARRIAGE
Through all the loss, my husband and I were struggling greatly in our marriage. We had gone to counseling, but of no help. I cried out to the LORD, “I am drowning, please help me. I am drowning in resentment, bitterness, hatred, brokenness, sorrow and fear.”
One month later, God led me to an addictions recovery group. I thought I was going for my sister who had a daughter with addiction problems, but later I found out He sent me there for me. I had the problem, I had the addictions, and it changed my life forever.
God’s wisdom made me take a good, hard look in the mirror and by the power of His Holy Spirit He gave me the ability to change. Wisdom always brings peace…that is what the Word of God says.
All of wisdom’s ways are pleasant ways and all her paths are peace.
Proverbs 3:17
And that is what I received…the peace of God.
But there was still a lot of muck that had to be dug out of my heart.
Resentment towards my husband was deep, and I willingly tore down his character with anyone who would listen. I was the queen of criticalness; all in the name of justified anger; hatred ran deep.
We ended up separating for a year, but during that time I was beside myself with desperation for healing in our marriage even in spite of my anger. I had prayed it all; done and said it all. There was nothing left for me to do to restore this marriage. (So I thought at the time.)
See, in frustrating circumstances we sometimes can't see beyond our nose. The plank is too big!
My sister led me to a book by Pastor Bill Johnson about praying for more of Jesus, more of the Holy Spirit, and more of His wisdom. It was the only thing I could pray. So I did, and cried out for it with all of my heart. Three months later, I went to Pastor Johnson’s church, and the Holy Spirit came upon me mightily after the service. I sobbed from the depths of my being; my tissue shredded with tears. All the pain and brokenness of the past 10 years was coming out like a flood. I cried until I could cry no more and then the most wondrous thing happened. Joy, unexplainable joy, filled my
whole being. Like a vessel filled with murky water, suddenly poured out, and fresh healing water poured in. He gave me wisdom as well. He said to me that day, “I don't care what you think your husband HAS done, HASN’T done, SHOULD do, or SHOULDN’T do. Your job is to love him with mercy, forgive and honor him as the husband I gave you and shut your mouth.”
Remember, I was the queen of criticalness. I also grew up with divorced parents and did not understand what it meant to honor my spouse.
God further went on to say, “I will teach you how to be an honoring wife and show you what your husband needs. You will confess your wrongdoing to him, ask for his forgiveness, and now this very hour request him to come home. You will also go to each person you tore down his character to and apologize and confess your wrongdoing.”
“Yes LORD,” I said.
I repented with joy and could not get to the phone fast enough to call Scott. Truly my heart had been transformed from hate to love by the power of Jesus and His wisdom. Walls of mistrust fell down and our marriage was restored.
All because of Jesus and His amazing Wisdom and power of His Holy Spirit.
If we refuse God’s wisdom, then death is what we are choosing. I wanted the desires of the flesh more than wisdom. Healing comes through the wisdom of God, but fools despise it.
It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. Psalm 119:71-71
WISDOM AND THE FEAR OF THE LORD
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Proverbs says the fear of the LORD is wisdom
And He said to man, the fear of the LORD – that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.
Job 28:28
GET WISDOM
We are COMMANDED to GET God’s wisdom, cry out for it and search for it like a hidden treasure, because it is supreme above all things. It will yield a harvest of righteousness, peace, and healing like we have never known. In all ways of life and in all situations, wisdom should be what is asked and searched for before all things. Why? Because it is Jesus!
The book of Proverbs is full of the LORD’s wisdom and gives an excellent understanding of what it means to fear the LORD – which is the beginning of wisdom. I recommend reading it daily. There are 31 chapters and one can read a chapter a day corresponding to the same day of the month. Repeat each month and in one year, the book will have been read 12 times. Verses in Proverbs give comparisons of the righteous and the wicked. It is, therefore, wise to ask God to examine our hearts from both positions, “LORD show me my heart in this verse. As a believer in Jesus, I am righteous by your blood, but is there a part of my heart that is wicked which I cannot see?” That is meekness, that is being teachable. That is wisdom!
Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one's whole body.
Proverbs 4:5-7, 21-22
Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.
Proverbs 3:13,18
VALUE OF WISDOM
Wisdom is supreme; therefore, get wisdom.
Proverbs 4:7
Its value cannot be compared. Nothing on this earth is more precious than wisdom…not even gold, silver, jewels, wealth or success.
Seek it like a hidden treasure, because when it is found, it will bring healing, health, life, prosperity, enduring wealth and honor.
Nothing surpasses wisdom.
Wisdom guards, changes and corrects the heart for it is Jesus the Teacher.
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom. She is a tree of life!
She will set a garland of grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendor.
Proverbs 4:9
WISDOM AND THE TEACHER
Jesus is the power and the wisdom of God as the Word says in Corinthians, but when we need healing, we typically only want half of Jesus. We say, “Jesus heal me by your miraculous power.” But we seldom ask for the other side of Him, His wisdom. We want Jesus to show up and do all the work. Well, according to the scriptures, He already has. That’s why He said, “It is finished.” He did everything required to restore man back to the Father – physically, emotionally, financially, relationally and spiritually. And it takes the wisdom of God to see and receive the healing.
We ask for His power for our healing – that’s easy to pray for, but we don’t want His wisdom, because that means correction, rebuke and discipline. Jesus, just give me healing the easy way – just make it go away.
We need His wisdom for our healing; to understand what He did for us on the cross, to speak His powerful Word over our lives and to see the sin in our hearts that may have caused our pain and suffering – owning our part. “LORD, I need to see your wisdom as to why are my enemies prevailing over me or my family? How did I get into this pit and how do I get out? What is my part? I cry out for your wisdom.” That’s healing prayer!!
Jesus demonstrated the power and the wisdom of God in His earthly ministry through the miracles (power) and by the preaching and teaching (wisdom).
If we do not see healing manifested and the power of God is not showing up, then it is vital we cry out for God’s wisdom, because Jesus is both. “LORD, I need your wisdom. Teach me what is in my heart - sin I can’t see which maybe hindering my healing?”
I like to think of God’s power is His part and God’s wisdom is our part (learning).
Jesus empowering and disciplining His disciples. Isn’t this exactly what happened to the men who became His disciples and later apostles?
So beautiful!
Simply, the best way to approach any problem is to cry out day and night for His wisdom, more of Jesus and more of the Holy Spirit until the wisdom and power comes. And then still continue crying out after the restoration.
Don’t just wait for a miracle, sit back and expect Jesus to show up and then when He doesn’t heal - blame, accuse and get angry at God for not healing. We even become wise in our own eyes believing that it is not His will to heal. What a lie from the pit of hell. Have we read the Bible? Do we see what Jesus did for us? Why aren’t we asking for His wisdom when we need healing? Why aren’t we becoming meek and humble – teachable during a crisis? Wisdom teaches that maybe WE have a part to play in this situation. Did we ever think that maybe we are responsible for the pit we got into? What makes us think we are wise enough to dig ourselves out? We NEED Jesus, we NEED His power and we NEED His wisdom. We need all of Him.
Jesus’ ministry beautifully demonstrated that healing came miraculously by the power of the Holy Spirit with the healing of the sick and the casting out of demons. And healing also came from His wisdom, through His preaching and teaching of the Word of God about loving enemies, forgiving one another, taking specks out of our own eyes, and loving God and others. The wisdom He taught was about the condition of the heart.
His life and ministry were the summation of both wisdom and power.
And still today, Jesus’ power AND His wisdom both bring healing.
For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.
Matthew 13:15
WISDOM AND THE DISCIPLE
To be a disciple of Jesus is to desire His wisdom; for His wisdom brings discipline, rebuke and correction.
That’s why we don’t want wisdom…it can be painful!
BUT wisdom brings SO much healing. It brings LIFE!
Wisdom calls us to face our OWN hearts and the sin which lies deep within. It reveals roots of sin we didn’t even know were there. Wisdom lays our hearts open before Christ. This is who I am.
It is easy to be foolish and ignore the condition of our hearts, but it takes the righteousness and meekness, which comes from Jesus, to be wise. To say to Him, “By your grace and righteousness, I am willing for you to discipline me, correct and rebuke, so that I may look like you and my heart wise like my Teacher. And oh mercy, the healing that comes!!
So the root word of disciple is discipline. And to follow Jesus is to desire Him to discipline our hearts so that wisdom may enter. Discipline teaches a disciple wisdom.
Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.
Revelation 3:19
And the corrections of discipline are the way to life.
Proverbs 6:23b
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Proverbs 1:7
To follow me you must take up your cross.
Matthew 16: 24
WISDOM AND HEALING
Wisdom promises healing to those who find her. And life means strength, vitality and immunity.
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
Proverbs 3:7-8
My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one's own body. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Proverbs 4:20-23
Long life is in wisdom’s right hand; in her left are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed.
Proverbs 3:16-18
WISDOM VERSUS IDOLS
HEAL US, OH IDOLS!
We trust in idols to heal us, whether it’s doctors, drugs, supplements, Internet, books, food, people, money or ourselves.
These things are not bad, but they can become what we seek FIRST and TRUST in to save us.
Jesus can use ANYTHING to heal us, but we must SEEK Him FIRST and His wisdom for He knows the path to healing. He is the great Physician who understands what our bodies need for restoration.
This precious gift of God’s wisdom comes from reading, speaking the Word of God, repenting, fasting, and praying.
HE promises to give wisdom if we ask and seek it like a hidden treasure.
I have a head full of knowledge, so it is very easy for me to turn to my brain, nutrition, remedies and treatments for healing rather than God’s wisdom.
Which do you seek to heal you?
It’s either Jesus or the idols, one or the other, but it can’t be both.
I am not opposed to doctors or treatments, but we should not move towards the world’s wisdom until Jesus has first given HIS.
He is the one who heals, He is the one who provides and He is the giver of life, because He is the way, the truth and the life.
Thou shalt have no other Gods before me.
Exodus 20:2
When you cry out for help, let your collection of idols save you! The wind will carry all of them off, a mere breath will blow them away. But whoever takes refuge in me will inherit the land and possess my holy mountain.
Isaiah 57:13
Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
SEEK HIS WISDOM FIRST
Seek His wisdom FIRST before all things, because it is above all
earthly wisdom and knowledge.
Seek it FIRST before the wisdom of doctors, first before the Internet and first before books, drugs, nutrition or the world’s wisdom or our own wisdom.
If Jesus is the Great Physician, WHY are we FIRST seeking help from human physicians? If Jesus is the Wisdom of God, then WHY are we seeking FIRST the wisdom from others? God created the body and He knows how to fix what is broken. He knows the root of the problem and how to remove it; the ONLY ONE who truly knows the path to healing.
Jesus said to seek God’s kingdom first.
Seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33
Here is an example of two Israelite Kings; one who sought God’s wisdom and one who did not.
King Asa was not obeying God’s commands. He was angry and imprisoned a holy prophet who had rebuked him and he also brutally oppressed some of his people. He became diseased in his feet and did not seek the LORD. He died two years later.
In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was severely diseased in his feet. Yet even in his disease he did not seek help from the LORD, but sought help only from physicians.
2 Chronicles 16:10,12
King Jehoshaphat was King Asa’s son. When he was told that a vast army was coming to make war with him, he became very frightened. The king first inquired of the LORD and proclaimed a fast. God answered the king’s prayer through a prophet and the next day He annihilated the enemy army. The king’s prayer to God, before his people, was so beautiful! It is an amazing example of “seeking His kingdom first,” for God’s wisdom and help in times of distress.
Today, all of Israel should speak King Jehoshaphat’s prayer over their land.
“O LORD, God of our fathers, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you. O our God, did you not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend?
See how the nations are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the possession you gave us as an inheritance. O our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.
2Chronicles 20:1-12
GOD ON TRIAL
In the Christian community, believers pray fervently for the sick one who is dying; praying for the power of God to miraculously heal them. When God does not show up as expected and the person dies, then God and His Word are put on trial and the dead Believer is elevated to a super saint. I have even heard Believers say, “Well it just was not God’s will to heal them or God’s Word is fallible. Really? Have they ever read the Bible to understand what God has said about healing? Do they know why Jesus’ body was beaten beyond human recognition – to carry our infirmities, our sicknesses. Again, when healing does not come through the power of God, then we should cry out for His wisdom.
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits - who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Psalm 103:2-5
This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.”
Matthew 8:17
So why then is God’s heart judged and the heart of the dead praised?
People, we have it backwards.
Did it ever occur to us that maybe it was the sick person’s own heart that needed healing before their physical healing; deep things of the heart that were connected to their sickness, which God wanted to heal with His wisdom, but they refused to see or listen.
Tell me, did they ever pray fervently for God’s wisdom or did they only pray for His power to heal them?
Did they sit and wait for God to show up with miraculous healing until it was too late?
Did they trust in the idols to heal them all the while praying for a miracle from God?
Do any of us know the depths of a man’s heart to see what God sees?
Why aren’t the Believers praying for the fullness of Jesus – His power AND His wisdom in our hearts and in our bodies for healing?
Why are we expecting God to take ALL the responsibility for our healing while we sit back and refuse His wisdom?
Then they will call to Me, but I will not answer; they will look for Me but will not find Me. Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the LORD, since they would not accept My advice and spurned My rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their schemes. For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them, but whoever LISTENS to Me will live in safety and be at ease without fear of harm.
Proverbs 1:28-33
Sometimes, I think we are praying for the wrong body parts to be healed. How about we start praying for spiritual hearts, ears, eyes and mouths to be healed!
It is wise for us to listen to His wisdom and take responsibility for the condition of our hearts before Him; to let God search our hearts for deep roots of sin that need pulling: un-forgiveness, bitterness, uncontrolled anger, criticalness, slander, gossip, self-righteousness, accusations, condemnation, pride, complaining, deceit, sexual immorality, lust, unbelief, idolatry, witchcraft, harshness, disrespect, gluttony, lack of self-control and hatred for self and others.
As Jesus stated in Mark, “It is what comes out of the heart which defiles us and if they would have eyes to see and ears to hear and repent and turn, I will heal them.
The sin in our lives MUST be repented and confessed for healing.
God’s wisdom draws us out of the murky water so that we are made fresh with healing water. So, in our afflictions and adversities, God’s wisdom is vital for our healing.
Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
Isaiah 30:20-21
DEATH/SICKNESS NEVER USURPS THE WORD OF GOD OR THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS
When sickness comes, typically we will first seek help from the world and all its treatments, pray for a miracle and then wait to see what happens. When the treatment does not heal or the miracle does not manifest, then there is the assumption that God does not heal or it is not His will to heal.
Wait a minute, that’s a bold assumption! Death or sicknesses NEVER, EVER, EVER usurps the Word of God and the finished work of Christ. That lingering sickness can ONLY be weighed by what GOD says and HIS wisdom. God does heal, because we have proof in the finished work of Christ and what the Word of God says about our healing.
But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5
So, if healing has not come forth, then cry out for His wisdom: to know, to understand where sickness is coming from, what the Word says about it, who we are in Christ, what Jesus did for our sicknesses, what things need to be changed in our lifestyle, what lies are being believed and what truths are not believed.
The question should be asked, “Did I seek God FIRST, and did I pray for wisdom?” Wisdom to know what’s wrong, where to go, should we go, what to do or what’s the root of it all? No, we typically take it into our own hands and then pray for a miracle. We become wise in our own eyes.
I have had people say to me, “I did not think to seek God for my health.”
He is our HEALER, our MAKER, our REDEEMER, and the ONLY ONE who has the power AND wisdom to put our broken lives back together. Nothing in all this world has the ability to do that, but Jesus.
Some say, “We cried out to the LORD for healing, but they still died; their healing on this earth never came.”
Just because someone died of sickness does not EVER negate or cancel what the Word says about healing.
Nothing EVER overrules or usurps the Word of God, nor the finished work of Christ.
Death, sickness, pain, destruction, poverty or man’s opinion never dictates what is true – The Word of God and the finished work of Christ determines what is truth from now until eternity, because it is the only thing that is eternal.
The grass withers and the flowers fail, but the Word of our God endures forever.
Isaiah 40:8
God knows why someone didn’t get well. HE knows the deep wells of their hearts, but He cannot lie and cancel what His Word says about healing.
So, it is vital that we cry out and pray for WISDOM for healing. Also, if someone has died whose healing was prayed for, again, cry out to the LORD for His wisdom for understanding. God,“Why were they not healed? Why were our prayers not answered?” He promises in Proverbs that if we cry out for understanding and knowledge, He will answer.
Indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:3-6
DESIRE WISDOM ABOVE ALL
Do we cry out for healing or do we cry out for God’s wisdom? Which do we want most? The Creator or the created thing, His wisdom or the answered prayer? We are to desire wisdom above all things.
Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
Proverbs 8:10-11
WISE IN OUR OWN EYES
Healing has much to do with the heart as well as the body.
We don’t have the wisdom ourselves to know if the origin of our sickness is coming from our heart or our body. And it is not our job to figure it out, otherwise, we will be wise in our own eyes. When we seek the idols to save us, we are being wise in our own eyes too.
But the God who made all things knows the depths of a man and the origins of all things, and He will make it known to those who ask.

Do you not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.
Proverbs 3:7
I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
Proverbs 8:17
For Godly wisdom brings righteousness, discipline, direction, insight, understanding for our healing and the book of Proverbs is a wonderful book in the Bible, full of the Lord’s wisdom.
When the verse says He is our wonderful counselor, Prince of Peace, Almighty God…that is His glorious power and wisdom being poured into us.
LISTEN
The key to wisdom is listening! Proverbs says many times, “Listen my son to my words, they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body.” Listen to the voice of God in His Word, listen to His commands, listen to wise counsel that He provides, listen to the Holy Spirit speaking to our heart, listen to authority, listen to spouses, listen to children, and listen to loving rebuke.
May you give us ears to hear LORD Jesus!
CRYING OUT FOR WISDOM
When we ask for wisdom, we are actually asking God to teach us what is in our hearts.
LORD I cry out for your wisdom….
Why is cancer prevailing throughout my body?
Why do I have cancer?
How do I get rid of it?
Why is my marriage failing?
Why is my spouse cheating?
Why is my child rebelling?
Why is there chaos in our family?
Why do I keep losing friends?
Why do I keep changing churches?
Why am I sick?
Why am I poor?
Why am I in debt?
Why am I entertaining witchcraft?
How do I flee sexual immorality?
Why am I involved in sexual immorality?
Why am I losing teeth?
Why is my sight or hearing failing?
Why did this person die?
What is my purpose?
Which decision should I make?
Please give me wisdom regarding this relationship
Please give me wisdom in my life.
The saying goes, “There are things that happen in this world that you will never understand.” That’s NOT what the Word says. Yes, God’s ways are not our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, but it also says, if we want understanding from God….cry out for it, and if we fear God, we will find the knowledge of God and secrets hidden from man.
So if we want understanding we are to cry out for it and cry out for His wisdom…fervently!
THE GOOSE AND THE GOLDEN EGGS
Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies, nothing you desire can compare with her.
Proverbs 3:13-15
My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.
Proverbs 8:19
WISDOM VERSUS WORLD’S KNOWLEDGE
If blessings, understanding and knowledge crown the head of those who find wisdom, then why are we shoving knowledge down our children’s throats?
If wisdom is supreme, then why are we praising knowledge?
We have become a world where God’s wisdom is viewed worthless and man’s knowledge highly prized.
We teach our children mounds of information but fail to teach them wisdom. And then we wonder why they lack morality, discernment, prudence, discipline, virtue, responsibility, trustworthiness and common sense. But guess what? Do WE prize knowledge more than God’s wisdom in our own lives? How can we give them something we don’t even desire? How can we teach them wisdom when we don’t even want it ourselves?
We have shoved God’s wisdom out of our families, churches, schools, colleges and universities, and knowledge has become king. And we are puzzled at the drug addiction, suicide, violence, gossip, bullying, divorces, sexual immorality, rebellion, witchcraft, apostasy and foolishness?
Adults, one day we are going to stand before God and He will ask, “Did you teach the children My wisdom or did you give them man’s knowledge?
Which was highly valued – their brain or their heart?
Which one will stand before the throne of God – our heart or our brain?
And so on that note, if anyone has led a little one to turn from the heart of God and His wisdom, REPENT AND WASH YOUR ROBES WHITE IN THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB! Confess your sin and make things right or their blood will be on your head. For this is written in the Word of God.
WISDOM AND DECISIONS
Throughout our lives, we encounter decisions that are difficult to make for whatever reason. If decisions can’t be made then more likely all the pieces of the puzzle have not been revealed. Wisdom is needed to see the whole picture and make the final decision. Cry out for God’s wisdom when making a decision, for it guards, protects and gives discernment leading us on the path of understanding.
Wisdom is supreme, therefore, get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Proverbs 4:7
