FOOD: THE HEALER OR THE CURSE

You shall worship and serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you.
Exodus 23:25

Food has become to us as either the healer or the curse. We are often bowing to Idolatry or fear; where is the peace?
Eat that food, don't eat that food, that causes cancer, that will cure cancer, this will make you healthy, that causes inflammation. Yikes! Makes the head spin. Well, that’s what idols do…they cause bondage, confusion and slavery. How many of us are slaves to food?
There is one who brings peace, order and wisdom to it all. Jesus!
The food is not the healer….Jesus is the healer! Food is not the god that heals us, it is Jesus the Creator. He is the one who made food for nourishment, but it is the LORD who heals, it is the Lord who gives strength, it is the LORD who has delivered us from disease.
And we will not FEAR the food that the Lord God has made. As we worship and serve Him, He will give wisdom, knowledge, understanding and provision for what we are to eat.
Jesus, you will provide and bless our food according to your Word.
This is what Jesus has to say about food and the Healer rightfully puts food in its place.

WHAT REALLY MAKES US SICK
And he called the people to him again and said to them, "Hear me, all of you, and understand: There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him."
And he said to them, "Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?" (Thus he declared all foods clean.) And he said, "What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander,
pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.
Mark 7:14-15, 18-23

Question? So are you saying all sickness comes from sin. No… Jesus is saying look at your own heart for defilement of the body, not food.
If there is sickness or disease, our hearts are a good place to start, by letting Jesus reveal what is inside and coming out. That’s wisdom and God’s wisdom promises healing. Nowhere in all of Proverbs does it say food brings healing and strength to the body, but only Wisdom.

Jesus is saying food does not make us sick/defile us, but what comes out of our heart is what makes one sick. The enemy has deceived us in believing that food is the cause of our sickness, so that our eyes will be removed from seeing the condition of our hearts and recognizing who is the real enemy of our bodies.

We spend more time evaluating the condition of our food than our hearts, we spend more time researching diets than studying the Bible and declaring Jesus’ healing stripes. We try to be more disciplined in our eating habits than letting the Teacher discipline our hearts. Pursuing diets for our children has become of greater importance than pursuing God’s wisdom for their simple hearts. The condition of the flesh has become of greater importance than the condition of the heart.

When all is said and done, which one will stand before the Lord God Almighty and give an account? The flesh or the soul?
Holy Spirit lead us to repentance of the idolatry of flesh and food.

See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled, that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau who sold his birthright for a single meal.
Hebrews 12:15

Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them.
Hebrews 13:9

JESUS MAKES THE FOOD HOLY
Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of
demons, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.
1 Timothy 4:1, 3-5

Jesus makes our food holy; through our thanksgiving and by blessing our food by the Word of God. It will then nourish our bodies and not harm us. We are not to eat or reject food out of fear. Bless the food and give humble, heartfelt thanks for the food He has provided before us.

WORSHIP AND SERVE GOD FIRST
In this day and age, we have so much food… a plethora of food available to us, grocery stores, food banks, fast food, cheap mass produced food and smorgasbords. Yet, with our tummy’s full, we still complain about the food, fear the food and even to the point of sticking our nose up at it. We have become gluttons and complainers.

We eat food out of fear and force our children to do the same. NO food can go into the body and be blessed when cursed with fear. We can either bless our food or curse it with our own hearts and mouths. What we do to food is far worse than what any giant corrupt food companies can do. We can blame them all we want, but God says, “What are YOU doing to make the food corrupt?” Look at your own heart first. Then I will bless your food.

Remember the verse He spoke in Exodus 23:25 “If you will worship and serve me, I will bless your food and your water and take sickness away from you.” We can’t curse our food with fear and worship God at the same time, out of the same mouth.

And don’t think for one minute I am without sin in regards to this subject. I am the worst of anyone, because of great health and nutrition knowledge, I have eaten out of fear and have put this in my children and my patients. But God had to discipline and reprove me over this issue. I told my children, “Don’t eat that, it will make you sick, it’s bad for you.” Right then and there, I just cursed the food and spoke sickness over them. Not life, not blessing.
Is there unhealthy food out there? Yes! Can it promote sickness? Yes! But God is asking us to worship Him FIRST, and all the rest will be added to us. HE will give us wisdom on what and how we should eat, HE will teach us what is not the best for our bodies. HE will bless the food we put in our mouths. Then fear will not reign nor the god of food.

However, God’s wisdom and freedom does not give us an open door to pursue gluttony or abuse our bodies with foods that He has instructed to avoid. Obedience to Jesus is key. Not obedience to the flesh.

In a nutshell, seek Jesus, cry out for His wisdom regarding food and diet, bless and do not curse your food with fear. Eat with His wisdom, thanksgiving, blessing and the Word of God on our lips spoken over it. He makes it holy.

As I worship and serve you Lord God, you promised to bless my food and my water and take sickness away from me and my loved ones. Thank you Jesus for this food. Amen

CURSING OUR FLESH
Many Protestant churches have gone to gluten-free communion crackers so that everyone is happy. Gluten-free reigns! These things taste like cardboard. I call it the wellness cracker. In some churches, bread is not even offered. Sorry to be so black and white, but in truth the fear of gluten has become greater than the fear of God when taking communion. Do we fully understand what we are doing? This is not an issue about gluten or gluten-free, include everyone or exclude those who are intolerant. This is no small matter. This is about eating judgment on our bodies. Do you want to know what eating judgment is? It’s called taking communion with double mindedness, lies on our lips. Saying one thing, but doing another. Cursing our flesh.

When we eat the bread and proclaim His broken body that was broken for our flesh, He bore our sicknesses upon His wounded body and then we eat gluten-free crackers out of fear that the gluten will make us sick, this is called being two-faced, a hypocrite…speaking out of both sides of our mouths. What we are saying is “Jesus your broken body took my sickness, but I trust in this gluten-free cracker to keep me from sickness. I remember your broken body, but I am only going to eat this “It won’t make me sick cracker” out of fear of getting sick. It’s either faith or fear, but can never be both.
Paul said it beautifully, Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died. But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.
1 Corinthians 11:27-30, 32

Listen to me, I used to have the same issue with enriched, white processed communion bread. And Jesus had to settle this matter with me. “You can either fear Me, quit being wise in your own eyes and believe that my broken body took your sicknesses or you can fear that the bread will make you sick if you eat it, but it can’t be both.”

Communion is for the purpose of remembering His death, what He did for us. He bore our infirmities, our sicknesses, our diseases, our weaknesses, by allowing His flesh to be mutilated beyond human recognition. His blood poured out for our righteousness. So, by eating a gluten-free cracker in remembrance of Jesus’ healing, it is really saying to Him, “I don’t believe in what you did for me, but I do trust in this cracker to not make me sick.” And if that’s the case, we would be better off not taking communion at all or refraining until we have healing from our double-mindedness and trust in a cracker! However, if wheat does create a life threatening allergic reaction, that is a different situation and gluten free is obviously a necessity.

SEEK THE LORD AND HIS WISOM
Jesus knows what your body needs for food. He is the giver of all wisdom.
This wisdom of the Lord has come through much pain, trial and refinement.
He said do not fear your food or trust in it to be your healer and idol. I am your healer and made this food to nourish you. I am the living water, I am the bread of life.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.
John 6:56

For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
John 6:33

This website will provide health and nutrition information for you and your family, but not so that you can direct your own way and trust your own wisdom. Simply ask Him for wisdom, “What do you want me to do?”
Being trained in diet and nutrition, it brought health for me and my family, but it also brought fear. I feared, “We are going to have some problems if we eat some of the stuff we shouldn't.”
Years later, I began to understand that as He gives wisdom on what to eat and what not to eat, He does not bring the fear of food. We choose to fear the food or we make it an idol (it will be what heals me). We agree with the enemy to fear the food or trust in it.
For disease, energy, sickness, weight loss, inflammation and immunity – Jesus provides that food for you to eat and He provides the wisdom to know what to do. He knows your body, he knows your needs. He desires our humility that we can't direct our way.
We REALLY don't know how to heal ourselves. We THINK we do, but we really don't.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.
Proverbs 3:7

Lord, I know that people's lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps.
Jeremiah 10:23

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.
Luke 12:22-23

Now I have to confess that I’m the worst of anybody for food idolatry and fear, because I have all this knowledge in my brain and it leads me to trust in my own understanding rather than in Christ. However, this wisdom from the LORD has come from much pain, tribulation and refinement. That fear and trust in food has had to be purged from me.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6

INFORMATION OVERLOAD
We don’t need more information, we need reproof! Information can add confusion, but correction brings healing.
I hear people say, I don't know who or what to believe, how can I make sense of it all and how do I navigate through this vast sea of information. You can’t…only Jesus will navigate for you. He is the one who leads us to His wisdom. Rest in Him, wait for His leading. Remember the verse:
Do not be wise in your own eyes, flee from evil, but fear the Lord, for this will bring strength to your body and healing to all your flesh.
Proverbs 3:7,8

We can profess to know what is wrong with our bodies, but really only Jesus knows and only He possesses the wisdom for its healing.
He made the body and the food and knows what is best for us to eat to bring health and ward off disease. Lay it all before Jesus. Ask Him, “Lord what do YOU want me to eat, what do YOU want me to stay away from, what diet do YOU want me to be on?” I ask this also for my family.
“Change what needs to be changed.” “I pray for your wisdom.” And leave it there before Him with a teachable heart. He will answer, and then repent where He reproofs. Correct what He is asking you to correct.
I had a patient ask the LORD for wisdom regarding her health. While she was in church, the Holy Spirit said to her, “Stop drinking coffee.” She went off of it cold turkey. Little did I know as her doctor that she was drinking a pot a day. Healing came to her body.
A while back, I asked the LORD for wisdom regarding my diet. The Holy Spirit laid on my heart…”You’re eating too much sugar.” He continued to confirm it. Shocked best described my reaction to the amount of sugar that was going into my mouth over the course of just a week.
My health improved.
So, we can come through an endless sea of information and seek Dr. Google, but Jesus the Great Physician and creator of all foods knows exactly what we need for healing. He made us, He should know. Many times Jesus has had to discipline me for being wise in my own eyes. Knock it off!

HOW MANY DIETS DOES IT TAKE TO LOOSE WEIGHT —
ONE!
The one that Jesus puts you on.
Jesus provides the wisdom to lose weight. The almighty diet program is not the healer. Jesus and His wisdom brings the weight loss. He is the one that paid for our bodies to be at peace and balanced. He may lead us to a specific diet and gives us wisdom to change habits, but when the diet is what we trust in to heal us…then it will fail every time. If not now, then later. He wants us to trust in nothing, but Him. So how many diets do we want to try before we “Seek first the King and all things will be provided.” How many diets have to become our healer and fail before we trust in Him to be our healer? The pagan world says, “Come to me for knowledge. And Jesus says “Come to me and I will give you my wisdom and healing.”

WHY ARE YOU STRIVING WITH FOOD? SOMEBODY ALREADY STRIVED FOR YOUR HEALING!
Jesus has already bore our sicknesses by His broken body and He is the wisdom and the strength of our flesh and the flesh of our children. He is urging us to believe it. PRAISE HIM for this great thing He has done. Believe what His Word says about sicknesses, food, and our children…STOP STRIVING. Believe what He did for our mortal bodies. He healed them with His wounds. Stop striving and believe and praise Him for the gift of healing that was provided for you 2,000 years ago. It is finished, the work is done, for you to be whole, new and your flesh at peace. Let no sensory – eyes, nose, ears, mouth, touch, or pain raise its ugly voice to you and speak the opposite of what Jesus has done for your body. NOTHING overrides the broken body of Jesus, NOTHING overrules His Blood poured out for you. By His wounds you are healed. Yell that to the symptoms, speak that to the devil. Say to the spirit of infirmity, speak to your flesh “Jesus paid for me and my healing and the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me and brings life to my mortal body.” He did all of this so that He could be with you.
So repent of your unbelief, repent of your striving, repent of the pride of self effort.
He has strived for you. Thank Him for your healing!
