Dreams
THE TEACHER’S VOICE

“We both had dreams,” they answered, “but there is no one to interpret them.” Then Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams.”
Genesis 40:8

Dreams are accurately interpreted only by the Word of God. For they are a teaching tool that God uses to give us wisdom. He teaches us in the watches of the night and instructs our hearts with wisdom. Dreams are the Teacher’s voice.

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
Psalm 16:7

HOW TO INTERPRET
Detailed dreams are very important and a key to understanding. Reoccurring dreams can mean warning or indicate that His message is landing on deaf ears. In other words...you ain’t gettin the message! That’s why He has to repeat Himself!

Choose the main word or words that the dream is centered around – one or two words that the dream is about. In a bible concordance, look up the word and find the verses which contain that word. Read each verse and pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal which scripture most accurately interprets the dream. It may take hours, days, weeks and much prayer to find the verse or passage that God is speaking through. The search and interpretation will and should always be led by the Holy Spirit.

In the Bible, multiple servants had dreams such as Joseph, Daniel, Joseph of Nazareth, Peter and David who talked about God’s word teaching our hearts in the watches of the night. So, ask God to speak to your heart through His word in the watches of the night. ‘Counsel me Lord and give me your wisdom so that I may understand your way.’
Sweet healing dreams oh servants of God!

THE WOLF DREAM
One night I dreamt that a wolf followed me into a building. At first I was much afraid, but as it came nearer, the fear turned to courage and strength. I grabbed the wolf, picked it up and threw it against the wall. With the wolf trying to rise again, I picked it up and threw it against the wall one more time, finally crushing its body. It fell beneath my feet. People suddenly came into the room and asked, “How did you do that to this wolf?” I replied, “The strength came through the Holy Spirit.”

The theme words for this dream were ‘wolf - enemy or crushed.’ And this is the verse that God gave me for interpretation.
I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till they were destroyed. I crushed them so that they could not rise; they fell beneath my feet. You armed me with strength for battle; you humbled my adversaries before me. You made my enemies turn their backs in flight, and I destroyed my foes.
Psalm18:37-40.
This was a prophetic dream, which came during the time my husband and I were separated. During that painful time in our marriage, the Holy Spirit came upon me and gave me incredible wisdom and a change of heart for the healing of our marriage. Jesus helped me overcome the wolf of sin that was destroying my marriage.
THE SNAKE DREAM
Before God called me to this ministry, He specifically gave me instructions to no longer consume alcohol. I could drink on a special occasion once a year but that was it - no more! I knew He was calling me to something special which would require a sober mind and void of any appearance of wrong-doing which might hinder others.

God knows I enjoy the taste of certain alcoholic beverages. I like them but they don’t like me. My sweet mom was the same way. She loved the taste of wine. She would not drink it because she was privately mentoring women and teaching children’s Sunday school. So, I told God, “Since I have to refrain down here, could I please then have your best Merlot and stout beer at my dinner plate at the wedding feast?”
Then I discovered this verse: (Just so sweet!!)

On this mountain, the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine— the best of meats and the finest of wines.
Isaiah 25:6

About a year after God gave me the command not to drink, I disobeyed His instructions.

One evening, my husband and I went out for dinner. It was not a special occasion, just a date. He ordered a Merlot, and I had a little sip. Wow. It was good! I could not resist ordering a glass for myself. Ohh...it was a beautiful burgundy color, went down smoothly and had many legs along the glass as I swirled the wine around. It was so delicious, I ordered another!

That night I had a dream!

A red snake was slithering around me and my children. Frightened, I quickly grabbed it by the neck but it whirled around and bit me on the wrist. Immediately I thought, “It’s venom is in my blood and I am poisoned!” Then, I took a rock and smashed its head.

The theme word of the dream was ‘snake.’ And, this is the scripture that the Holy Spirit led me to. It was a rebuke from God, “Do not drink anymore; follow My instructions and do not disobey.”

Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end, it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper.
Proverbs 23:31-32

THE RIVER
Years ago when I was plagued with an illness and did not fully understand Jesus’ healing, I was given a dream.

I was following my youngest daughter through a forest alongside a stream. That stream started from a building and was at first ankle deep, then knee deep, then to my knees and then over my head. It was now a river that I could not cross and there were many trees on each side of the bank. My daughter jumped into the river and concerned for her safety, I jumped in after her. This river that flowed eastward from the building, was now a waterfall cascading down into a peaceful pool of crystal-clear blue water. It was the most refreshing water I had ever seen. As I stood knee deep in the beautiful pool, I wanted to become one with this water and drink and drink and never be full. However, as I desired this, a thought came to mind. “I can't drink this water, for behind me is salt water from the sea and the salt water will mix in with this refreshing water and be undrinkable.” The river, now a waterfall, created this breathtaking pond of fresh, blue water which eventually flowed into the sea - the Dead Sea. Immediately, as I believed that the salt water would overcome the fresh water, I fell asleep. When I awoke, it was dark and I was standing in mud up to my knees. That beautiful water had turned to muck and mire. Consequently, from my fear of the salt water, I got mud instead. However, my daughter was standing on the shore, happy and joyful, just waiting for me to wake up.

Two weeks later, Jesus led me to Ezekiel and then to Isaiah, and the dream was interpreted.

He then brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east and the water was trickling from the south side of the temple. As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me
through water that was up to the waist. He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross.
When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river. He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, (the sea of death), where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh (healed). Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh (healed); so where the river flows everything will live.”
Ezekiel 47:2-5, 7-9
But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud. Isaiah 57:20

The wicked have unbelief. I believed that death overcomes Jesus. The river represents His Holy Spirit. Jesus said to me, “Beth, you have it upside down. You believe that death overcomes life. Not so; it is the other way around. Life, My life, overcomes death, because I conquered death. . ‘Fresh’ in Hebrew means healing. So, this river water makes the salt water healed/fresh and wherever this water flows there is healing and life. Death does not overcome life. Jesus’ life, overcomes death.”

As I believed His Word and the power of the Living Water – the Holy Spirit, I was healed!

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
Psalm 40:2
