Discipline/Reproof
To be a disciple of Christ is to be disciplined by Jesus. For the word disciple comes from the word discipline.
Discipline brings life.
Wisdom which is more precious than gold, comes from being reproofed, corrected and judged.
We are refined like gold.
It is wise to have teachable and humble hearts before The Teacher. It is what He desires.
Each trial or tribulation ask Jesus, “What are you trying to correct in me? What is the wisdom You are trying to teach me?”
Great healing comes from correction and rebuke…if we will only listen and turn.

Those who I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.
Revelation 3:19

For the LORD disciplines the ones he loves.
Hebrews 12:6a

Because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.
Proverbs 3:12

Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O LORD, and whom you teach out of your law, to give him rest from days of trouble, until a pit is dug for the wicked.
Matthew 7:13

For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way to life.
Proverbs 6:23

Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you. Deuteronomy 8:5

My life has been transformed by the reproofs of the LORD’s discipline.
I am not the same person as of 22 years ago. After giving my heart back to Jesus, I had no idea the years of discipline, rebuke and correction that were to come. Discipline that molded me into a disciple of Christ. He continues to refine me and burn off the impurities until my heart reflects more and more the face of Jesus. Hallelujah!
THE WORD DISCIPLINE
Disciple comes from the word discipline. If we profess to be disciples of Christ, we should be willing to to be disciplined, reproof and corrected. Allowing the righteousness of Jesus to come into our hearts and clean out the hardness. It comes through His wisdom, His Holy Spirit, and His Word. The Word says He disciplines those that He loves.
BRINGS LIFE
No discipline ever seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
Hebrews 12:11
His discipline is painful no doubt. Many times I have to pray, "LORD, by your mercy and strength, help me to WANT your discipline so that my heart may learn wisdom. And help me by your grace to RECEIVE it.”
Through the years, if I have been able to receive His discipline, it was only because of GOD’s grace, not of my own strength.

WISDOM
What does the pain from discipline yield? WISDOM!
Wisdom comes from God’s reproof and correction, just like a parent. And wisdom is the most supreme thing we are to desire, for it is more precious than gold. It is JESUS.
DISCIPLINE - DIE TO SELF
Look at the many great men in the Bible who were disciplined by the LORD and the wisdom that came forth.
Joseph, Moses, David, Peter, the Israelites, the Disciples and Paul.
Jesus longs to use His followers in mighty and powerful ways, but first they must be trained as disciples. Many followed Him, but very few became His disciples. For it requires a heart willing to be reproofed of sin. To die to self.

REFINED
The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, such are the ways of discipline to the heart. He refines us like metal so that what remains is highly valued and honored.
Remove the dross from the silver, and out comes material for the silversmith.
Proverbs 25:4
THE TEACHER
It is wise to have teachable and humble hearts before The Teacher. It is what He desires.
Each trial or tribulation, ask Jesus, “What are you trying to correct in me? What is the wisdom You are trying to teach me?”
Great healing comes from correction and rebuke…if we will only listen and turn. For He is our teacher and He loves us deeply, to train, reproof and correct…just like a loving, wise parent. The Teacher trains us in His righteousness, to turn our hearts away from foolishness to wisdom.
And what comes from it, is honor, blessing, and beauty.
When we cry out for His wisdom, more of Jesus and more of His Holy Spirit, it comes, oftentimes in the form of discipline. To help us dig out of pits and to stay on the narrow path.
What discipline brings is life and that my friend is healing.
